Occupying my life energy

What’s currently occupying your life energy? (college, raising children, planning retirement)
When I read this and read through the example Meza gives..i was like…hmmmm none of these fit me. I’m ok with that. Perfectly OK! So now what is currently occupying me life energy? Yoga training, Matt, Drake, my new garden, composting, living life the yoga way. Not too shabby. I’m done with school (for now), no kids except 4 legging ones, and no retirement in my near future…so I’ve or we’ve started our indoor and outdoor plants for the season. That’s a big energy! I love it! Yoga training occupies a lot of my time which again – I LOVE. Then Matt and Drake..my family. It may not be traditional, it may not be what society views as a family, but it’s my family and I love it – wouldn’t want it any other way…well except, maybe a new 4 legged brother for Drake!

Reading Melina Meza

..”look at the undesirable behavior patterns, habits, or attachments you have and consider removing just one to help you change, enhance, or grow into a more conscious being.”
She makes her students give up something for 2 weeks – I’ve done this right..alcohol, meat, dairy, tried wheat. I think my next sacrifice will be caffeine…hmmmm when shall I begin? Tomorrow? This weekend? Maybe this weekend…I’m already stocked up on coffee at work for the week and this weekend will be prepping for yoga week…yes. This weekend…say Friday or Saturday. Mark your calendars. No caffeine here I come. “to grow and transform, we must strive to live consciously instead of unconsciously” she talks about when you give up some of your comforts a theme emerges around the realization that life is better without these habits and behaviors…so true..so true.
Meza also suggest making year of seasonal resolutions – biweekly or monthly instead of at the beginning of the year. I LOVE THIS! It’s similar to my bucket list…once a month experimenting on something new. 5k’s, yoga retreats, a new pose, new teachings…year of season resolutions I LOVE IT…winter has been not to hibernate like usual! Eat right, stay healthy.
We should Journal to track our emotional life in the midst of change. .. well ahead of you on this one Meza…blogging counts right?! More people need to blog…the more we write and empty our head, it leaves room in the heart to grow…it gets all the monkey chatter out of the brain to write, journal, blog. I love the way she puts it though…to track our emotional life in the midst of change…looking back over the 2 or so years I’ve been blogging I can definitely tell a difference in my emotional life – moving forward with the help of breath and yoga.
I was reading today, “Trust that you will grow no matter what the final outcome looks like”. I love it … the more and more I read her sequencing book the more and more I’m like yeah! Rock on! Well put! I need to blog about this!! Can’t wait to meet this fascinating woman!
well, I'm off to teach one of her winter vinyasa's...Namaste.

Winter Journal

Winter Journal – 14feb12
Journal about what we notice about ourselves during the winter ~
It’s almost like I go into hibernation. Between the cold and the darkness I just stay inside more..and what happens when you hibernate? You eat and sleep/nap. It’s like right after the super feast of Thanksgiving and Christmas we go underground and sleep it off. I totally hate being cold – cold to the bone – I hate the cold wind on my face – my lips become chap – my feet are cold (I have to wear shoes) – I have to wear layers upon layers of clothes – my skin dries more – Uggggg Boooooo WINTER. Then, it’s dark super early – no wonder people have Seasonal Affective Disorder. I leave in the morning for work – it’s dark. I get home, it’s dark. My whole routine is different during the winter. There’s no “playtime” outside after work, no yard work, no beach, not a whole lot of grilling, minimal bike rides due to the cold, cold wind on my face and it’s now DARK.
This winter has been quite different. First of all it hasn’t been super cold, yay! Not much need for heavy coats, the darkness still sucks. Don’t get me wrong I love the hats, scarfs, gloves, and winter accessories, just not the bu-koos of layers I have to wear to walk out of the house in the morning. This winter season I have been eating better thanks to my new juicer and yoga.
So, I think I’ve answered your question..maybe – I kind of go off on a tangent..well always go off – In a nutshell, I notice I don’t shave my legs, become somewhat of a hermit, and catch up on movies, and cooking..I find myself cooking more ~

New mantra

Came across this the other day preparing to teach my fellow teachers, and that same night in our music class it was one of our chants!! how cool! So my new mantra I'd like to share with you and all -

OM Lokah Samasta Sukhino Bhavantu

so pretty..basically it means "may all be happy"! :)

ahhh sometimes I need a good mantra to go by.
Like "breathe".

Or the one today I was using is "I can only get done what I can get done" - and deep breath.

New things everyday

I am constantly learning new ways to better/healthier living..and dialing down the chemicals going in and on my body. Along with meditations, practice, books, and movies to read and watch, and learn...i'm discovering this whole other holistic type of living. from brushing your lymphs...hmm didn't know I needed to be brushing those to vitamin D..need that to sesame oil, nasya oil, shea butter, kombucha, how to juice, what to juice, when to juice, dairy is bad, coconut oil is the shit! ! ! down to how to find out what the fruit and veggies are by code number...So now my list gets longer to things to try and sample...i'll let ya'll know how it goes this weekend...not sure if I'm gonna be able to get matt to start brushing his lymphs anytime soon, but we'll see :)
