Winter Journal – 14feb12
Journal about what we notice about ourselves during the winter ~
It’s almost like I go into hibernation. Between the cold and the darkness I just stay inside more..and what happens when you hibernate? You eat and sleep/nap. It’s like right after the super feast of Thanksgiving and Christmas we go underground and sleep it off. I totally hate being cold – cold to the bone – I hate the cold wind on my face – my lips become chap – my feet are cold (I have to wear shoes) – I have to wear layers upon layers of clothes – my skin dries more – Uggggg Boooooo WINTER. Then, it’s dark super early – no wonder people have Seasonal Affective Disorder. I leave in the morning for work – it’s dark. I get home, it’s dark. My whole routine is different during the winter. There’s no “playtime” outside after work, no yard work, no beach, not a whole lot of grilling, minimal bike rides due to the cold, cold wind on my face and it’s now DARK.
This winter has been quite different. First of all it hasn’t been super cold, yay! Not much need for heavy coats, the darkness still sucks. Don’t get me wrong I love the hats, scarfs, gloves, and winter accessories, just not the bu-koos of layers I have to wear to walk out of the house in the morning. This winter season I have been eating better thanks to my new juicer and yoga.
So, I think I’ve answered your question..maybe – I kind of go off on a tangent..well always go off – In a nutshell, I notice I don’t shave my legs, become somewhat of a hermit, and catch up on movies, and cooking..I find myself cooking more ~
Namaste.
